Uniform Tire Quality Grading
All passenger car tires sold in the United States require UTQG grading. Texas Test Fleet has performed UTQG treadwear and traction testing continuously since the government standards were first implemented in 1978.
San Angelo Facility
UTQG testing is conducted from Texas Test Fleet’s San Angelo facility. Like the primary facility, the San Angelo location contains a full service shop. In addition, technicians and drivers undergo the same rigorous checks and supervision to ensure your test is carried out correctly.

Wet traction testing is conducted using a specialized trailer at the Department of Transportation facility located on Goodfellow Air Force Base.
UTQG Treadwear
Treadwear testing is done on a 7200 mile government mandated route originating in San Angelo, Texas.
